Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsement of Phil Arballo for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from California’s 13th Congressional District and Jimmy Panetta and Salud Carbajal for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives from California’s 19th and 24th Congressional Districts, respectively.

“The stakes for action on the climate crisis have never been higher and that is especially true in a state like California where communities know all too well the devastating consequences of inaction on climate change,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Representatives Salud Carbajal and Jimmy Panetta have been champions for protecting California’s coast from the dangers of offshore drilling and protecting the health of all communities and we know Phil Arballo has the same commitment to protecting our environment and climate. We are thrilled to endorse all three of these leaders so they can continue to hold big polluters accountable and fight for a democracy that works for all, clean energy, justice and jobs.”

“We are proud to support Phil Arballo and Representatives Salud Carbajal and Jimmy Panetta for Congress. Our State is witnessing deadly and costly wildfires, unreliable water sources with an ongoing drought, increasingly hotter years, unhealthy pollution levels, and degrading biodiversity and ecosystems,” Mike Young, Political & Organizing Director, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters). “ It is critical that we continue to maintain an environmental majority in Congress and we know these three climate champions will fight for investments in climate and environmental justice to protect California’s health and precious natural resources for decades to come.”

“I’m humbled to have the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Phil Arballo. “Families in the Central Valley are feeling the impacts of climate change in full force. Communities across the Valley lack access to clean drinking water, the air we breathe is increasingly choked with smoke and the land that helps feed the nation is being devastated by drought. We can’t wait any longer to take action. In Congress, I will fight to invest in a green economy for the Central Valley and the nation, so that we can continue to thrive into the future.”

“I understand the importance of preserving our environment for generations to come, and am proud to earn the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund as we continue our work together to achieve that goal,” said Congressman Salud Carbajal. “Since my very first bill in Congress to block oil drilling off the coast of my district on the Central Coast of California to securing key climate investments in our Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, I’ve worked in the House to tackle climate change, promote climate resiliency and environmental preservation, and secure the resources needed to protect our planet. It is our responsibility to be good stewards of our environment, and I am grateful to have partners like LCV in that work.”

“I appreciate LCV Action Fund’s endorsement of my campaign and its confidence in my service to the people and priorities of the 19th Congressional District,” said Rep. Jimmy Panetta. “Having grown up on the central coast of California and, now, as its United States Representative, I value not only my home’s pristine and precious natural environment, but I also fully understand the necessary work and responsibilities to protect and preserve its natural treasures. Ever since I have been in this position, LCV has been right there with me, supportive of my work and understanding of the balance that I need to have to not only buttress this area’s beauty but also bolster its bounty with its thriving agriculture and hospitality industries. LCV’s empathy for the type of representation necessary for my congressional district not only strengthens our partnership, but also provides me with the support needed to continue my service to protect the economic and environmental future of the 19th Congressional District. “
