Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsement of Richard Blumenthal for reelection to the U.S. Senate from Connecticut.

“Sen. Richard Blumenthal has fought hard for the people of Connecticut and our environment and climate,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are thrilled to support his campaign for reelection because we know he will continue to lead efforts for environmental justice to keep our communities healthy and safe from PFAS, protect our coastlines, grow our clean energy economy, and make our democracy more accessible for all.”

“Senator Blumenthal has long been a voice for the people of Connecticut.  From his days as Attorney General, Senator Blumenthal consistently fought to protect Long Island Sound and our shoreline from environmentally damaging uses,” said Lori Brown, Executive Director, CT League of Conservation Voters. “He has always been a major force in our state’s efforts to conserve our land and water as public trust resources for all communities to enjoy. And today, he continues to fight for the environment and public health by leading efforts to keep the toxic chemical PFAS out of our food packaging, cosmetics, firefighting foam, and ultimately out of our drinking water.  Senator Blumenthal is nothing short of heroic against threats to our air, land, water, wildlife and climate.”

“I am proud to have earned the endorsement of the League of Conservation Action Fund,” said Senator Richard Blumenthal. “As the impacts of climate change become more and more damaging to our environment, the importance of our joint commitment to conservation is more crucial than ever. Together, we can continue to combat climate change, protect our coastlines, and work to build a sustainable, clean energy future for generations to come.”

Senator Richard Blumenthal was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010. Senator Blumenthal sits on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. He has been a strong advocate for the transformative climate and environmental justice provisions in the budget reconciliation bill passed by the U.S. House last year. He has been fighting for the windfall profits tax on oil and gas companies, to prevent excessive natural gas rates for consumers, increase air quality monitoring, and has a long record of protecting the Long Island Sound and fighting for PFAS regulations. He also voted to change the Senate rules in order to pass critical voting rights legislation earlier this year. He has earned a 98% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
