Adam Hamilton is a fifth generation Kansan and lifelong pastor who, over nearly four decades, has built an enormous, active congregation centered around serving local communities and helping those in need.

After receiving his degree in pastoral ministry and his Masters of Divinity, at age 25, Hamilton and his wife established the Church of the Resurrection with just four people. Under Hamilton’s leadership, the church grew over 36 years to become the largest United Methodist congregation in the U.S., with approximately 24,000 members. His church brought together Kansans from diverse socioeconomic and political backgrounds under the unifying theme of service. Hamilton has supported local schools, hospitals, food pantries, and healthcare services through donations of tens of millions of dollars to community causes. He has written over 30 books on his faith and experiences, and consistently reaches out to farmers, ranchers, and small-business owners across the state to understand their grievances and work towards community-led solutions.

As a senator, Hamilton will continue to build out Kansas’ robust clean energy portfolio while partnering with ranchers, farmers, and scientists across the state to collaboratively develop resilient land, water, and agricultural management practices.

Hamilton joins the U.S. Senate after defeating former Senator Roger Marshall, who earned a 5% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

“I’ve spent my life teaching that the world we live in was entrusted to us to care for, not to use up. Human activity is changing our climate, and we’re already seeing the effects here in Kansas, on the land our farm and ranch families work and in the water beneath it.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
