House Representative

Brad
Lander

NY-10
D

Brad Lander is a lifelong organizer, and public servant who has championed clean energy, climate-smart investments, holding corrupt politicians accountable, and environmental protections throughout his career.

Lander organized his first march in Washington D.C. as a teenager, and remained politically active while earning his undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago and his master’s degrees from University College London and the Pratt Institute in New York. After leading two community development nonprofits across two decades to facilitate New Yorkers’ access to government resources and affordable housing, Lander was elected to the City Council. There, he invested in environmental remediation efforts, fought for labor rights, and campaigned relentlessly for the successful effort to ban single-use plastic bags. He later served as comptroller, creating programs that invested in public rooftop solar, defending congestion pricing to support public transit, and leading divestment of the city’s public pension fund from fossil fuel corporations and into clean, climate-friendly investments.

As a representative, Lander will continue to champion accountability for corporate polluters while advancing clean job creation and economic justice. During his 12 years on New York City Council, Lander earned a 95% score on New York LCV’s NYC Council Environmental Scorecard.

Lander joins the U.S. House after defeating Republican candidate Jennifer Moore to fill the seat formerly held by Representative Dan Goldman, who earned a 100% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

“As a Congressmember, I will organize, advocate, and legislate to prevent emissions and climate change but also to invest in the resilient infrastructure needed to protect this district from the impact of increasingly devastating weather. I will continue working side by side with my neighbors to protect the land, water, and air that we share and cherish.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
