House Representative

Christina
Hines

MI-10
D

Christina Hines is a Michigan native and attorney who has proven experience supporting victims of hate crimes and assault, winning cases from local district courts to the Michigan Supreme Court.

After receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her law degree from Wayne State University, Hines joined the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, where she specialized in supporting victims of abuse and trafficking and seeking justice for the perpetrators. She later became chief of the Special Victims Unit and Appeals in Washtenaw County, and introduced new trainings for law enforcement officers and practices for community responses. In this role, Hines also created an innovative restorative justice program and expanded the Fair Michigan initiative to prosecute hate crimes against the LGBTQ+ community. A working mother of three young children, Hines has dedicated her career to supporting and securing the safety of the next generation, from the communities they inhabit to the environment and climate they will inherit.

As a representative, Hines will fight back against the decimation of our environmental protections, including efforts to gut clean air and water safeguards, block approved clean energy projects and jobs, and dismantle public lands protections.

Hines joins the U.S. House after defeating Republican candidate Michael Bouchard to fill the seat of former Representative John Hanes, who vacated his seat to run for Michigan governor and earned a 7% lifetime score on LCV’S National Environmental Scorecard.

“Investing in clean energy, resilient infrastructure, and modern manufacturing is both the right thing for our kids and the smart thing for us. These investments strengthen our middle class, reduce our dependence on foreign adversaries, and help build a safer, more stable world for the next generation.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
