House Representative

Colin
Allred

TX-33

Through his careers as a professional athlete, civil rights attorney, and U.S. representative for Texas’ 32nd Congressional District, Colin Allred has been a democracy champion and strong supporter of federal climate investments.

After a 5-year career in the National Football League, Allred earned his J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law. He went on to have an extensive legal career championing voting rights while serving in the Office of White House Counsel under Kathy Ruemmler, the Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office, and a special assistant in the Department of Housing and Urban Development in the Obama-Biden administration. Allred was then elected to Congress in 2018, serving for three terms and was a strong supporter of the Inflation Reduction Act and its implementation, urging cities and nonprofits in Texas to apply for the available solar grants. Through his work on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Allred secured over $100 million to electrify public transportation systems around Dallas.

As a representative, Allred will continue to solidify Texas as a leader in wind and solar energy as well as fight for clean air and water. During his previous terms in congress, Allred earned a 96% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

Allred rejoins the U.S. House to fill the seat of retiring Representative Marc Veasey, who earned a 91% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

“Climate action isn’t just an obligation – it’s an enormous economic opportunity. I’ll lead the fight to make sure Texas powers America’s clean energy future, with high-paying jobs and lower costs for our families.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
