Jeremy Moss is a lifelong Michigander and leader in the Michigan House and Senate who is committed to deploying clean energy as a climate solution that lowers costs while protecting our environment.

Moss began his career in public service as an undergraduate at Michigan State University, where he led several humanitarian missions to help communities in New Orleans, South America, and South Africa. At age 25, he was elected to be the youngest ever member of the Southfield City Council, where he served before winning election to the Michigan Legislature in 2014. Moss held leadership positions in both the Michigan House and Senate, and was an outspoken champion for numerous environmental and climate proposals. Moss’ leadership helped Michigan develop plans for an energy transition that decreases costs for consumers while investing in a climate-smart future, allowed the state to develop stringent air and water protections, and pushed for new guidelines on cleanup procedures for contaminated sites.

As a representative, Moss will build upon his years of work advancing a clean energy economy, defending communities from climate disasters, and establishing rigorous environmental protections. Moss earned a 98% lifetime score from Michigan LCV’s Scorecard as a state representative. He is the first LGBTQ+ person to represent Michigan in Congress.

Moss joins the U.S. House to fill the seat of former Representative Haley Stevens, who earned a 98% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard and vacated her seat to run for the U.S. Senate.

“We have a moral imperative to make progress towards a clean energy grid, enact strong environmental protections, and better prepare our communities for extreme weather events.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
