Kelly Morrison

Dr. Kelly Morrison is an OB/GYN and 6th-generation Minnesotan who has championed healthy communities and climate change solutions in the Minnesota State Legislature.

Dr. Morrison earned her bachelor’s in history from Yale and her M.D. from Case Western University. For over 20 years, she practiced as a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology in Minnesota. In 2018, Dr. Morrison was elected to the Minnesota state House after unseating a Republican incumbent in a very competitive race. In this role, she championed bills to protect waterways from pollution and invasive species. In 2022, she was elected to the Minnesota state Senate, where she authored over 60 bills that eventually became law, including bills that provide funding for schools to install solar energy, expand electric vehicle infrastructure, and create a comprehensive climate action plan for the state.

As a representative, Dr. Morrison will continue to champion bold climate solutions and work to protect our water, reproductive rights, and our environment.

Dr. Morrison joins the U.S. House to fill the seat of Representative Dean Phillips, who vacated the seat to run for U.S. president and earned a 86% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

During my time serving in the Minnesota Legislature, I’ve sponsored many pieces of legislation that champion climate, environmental justice, and democracy issues. As a physician, I view legislation through a public health lens, so climate action and environmental justice are priorities, have been at the forefront of my work, and will continue to be in Congress.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
