Maggie
Goodlander

NH-02
D
Maggie Goodlander

Maggie Goodlander has dedicated her life to serving the public and understands the importance of protecting public lands and standing up to Big Oil.

Goodlander comes from a family who has called New Hampshire home for over 100 years. After graduating from Yale University with a degree in history, she began working as a foreign policy staffer in the U.S. Senate. Goodlander went on to serve as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve, during which she also earned her J.D. from Yale University. After law school, Goodlander worked as a law clerk to Chief Judge Merrick Garland of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. She later returned to New Hampshire where she taught courses at the University of New Hampshire and Dartmouth. In 2020, Goodlander served as counsel to the House Judiciary Committee, during the first impeachment of former President Trump. In 2022 she served as deputy assistant attorney general, fighting corporate monopolies and helping create the Justice Department’s first-ever Office of Environmental Justice. In 2024, she briefly worked as a senior advisor to President Joe Biden before deciding to run for Congress.

As a representative, Goodlander will work to advance environmental justice, stand up to Big Oil, and defend our democracy.

Goodlander joins the U.S. House to fill the seat of retiring Representative Annie Kuster, who earned a 95% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

“Low-income, tribal, and marginalized communities suffer disproportionate toxic exposures, pollution, and effects of climate change, despite being comparatively small contributors. My legislative agenda will seek to ensure that everyone has access to clean air and water, and has recourse against polluters.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
