Matt Little is a lifelong Minnesotan and a former mayor and state senator, who will bring to Congress his decades of experience holding corporations accountable and fighting for climate and environmental protections.
After earning his bachelor’s and law degree from the University of Minnesota, Little was elected as mayor of Lakeville, his hometown, at just 27 years old. He went on to serve in the Minnesota Senate, where he championed climate policy, sponsoring legislation to push the state towards 100% renewable energy by 2040 and investing in energy storage projects to bring down utility bills. Inspired by his mom’s years-long fights with insurance companies to receive healthcare, Little built his own law firm to fight corporate insurers on behalf of seniors and those with disabilities. Little has been a vocal advocate for the protection of Minnesota’s public lands, and has opposed plans to expand mining near Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Wilderness.
As a representative, Little will continue to champion climate issues while holding corporations accountable, including by restoring tax incentives for renewable energy projects and electric vehicles while stripping these breaks from polluting data centers.
Little joins the U.S. House to fill the seat of former Representative Angie Craig, who earned a 96% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard and vacated her seat to run for the U.S. Senate.
“Climate change is an existential threat to our planet and our way of life. We can’t defeat Trump’s agenda by compromising our progressive values with Band-Aid solutions and half-measures. We have to win, and we will win by fighting for real change.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
