Micah Lasher is a dedicated public servant who has advocated for a sustainable, climate-resilient future.

After earning his undergraduate degree from New York University, Lasher worked as an aide and community liaison for Congressman Jerry Nadler before serving as chief of staff for New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. In this role, Lasher led the state’s case against Peabody Energy Corporation’s efforts to minimize the proven impacts of climate change. Lasher went on to serve as director of state legislative affairs for then New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and as Governor Kathy Hochul’s directory of policy, during which he continued to advance climate priorities, including incentives to deploy wind and solar energy projects, programs to decrease building emissions, and plans for accessible public parks. Since his election to the New York State Assembly in 2024, Lasher has advocated for a pro-climate and pro-environment agenda while continuing to lead a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting Riverside Park.

As a representative, Lasher will work to fight the climate crisis and champion clean energy and invest in climate-resilient infrastructure. Lasher earned a 100% 2025 score on New York LCV’s State Environmental Scorecard during his time as an Assembly member.

Lasher joins the U.S. House to fill the open seat of retiring Representative Jerry Nadler, who earned a 98% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

“Micah Lasher believes few priorities are as urgent as the battle against climate change. His commitment to the fight goes back to his time in the State Attorney General’s office tackling climate denialism by Big Oil and includes local efforts like initiatives to mitigate flooding and erosion as Chair of the Riverside Park Conservancy.” – Micah Lasher for Congress
