You should know: Pam Bondi is an election-denier, corporate lobbyist, Big Oil and Gas supporter, and longtime Trump ally.

Her take on climate: When asked if she believes climate change is caused by humans, Bondi said, “I’m not going to get into a philosophical discussion with you about climate change.” (Politico)

The fine print: Pam Bondi has been a die-hard Trump loyalist since his first presidential race in 2016 when she endorsed him in the Republican primary over the candidate from her state, Senator Marco Rubio. She served on Trump’s legal team during his first impeachment trial, has been a proponent of the Big Lie, and has wrongly criticized the legitimate criminal cases brought against Donald Trump as “weaponizing the justice system.”

As Florida attorney general during the Obama administration, Bondi challenged federal policies aimed at climate action and protecting clean air and water (as well as healthcare and gay rights). She has also worked for a conservative think tank that names increasing oil and gas production as one of its priorities.

Our take: “Pam Bondi is a corporate lobbyist with ties to a foreign oil monarchy, and has a clear anti-climate, anti-democracy record. As Florida’s Attorney General she put Big Polluters and corporate interests over the health and safety of communities. She shut down a fraud investigation into Trump University after Trump made an illegal $25,000 donation to her PAC, and she currently holds millions of dollars of stock in Trump’s social media company. Bondi denied the 2020 election results, publicly supported Donald Trump in his criminal cases, and represented him in his well-deserved first impeachment.
