Rebecca Bennett spent decades as an elite Naval helicopter pilot and healthcare professional, and is dedicated to defending our air, water, and climate while in Congress.
After graduating from Cornell University with a ROTC scholarship and finishing top of her class in flight school, Bennett went on to serve in the armed forces for over 15 years as a helicopter pilot and aircraft commander. Since retiring from the military, Bennett has worked across the healthcare sector, striving to bring down costs and increase access to care. Bennett pledged to maintain and rebuild robust environmental regulations for all New Jerseyians by removing PFAS forever chemicals and lead from drinking water, protecting grants for waste management and superfund cleanup, and preventing the spread of pollutants proactively. Bennett worked to address the threat of climate change by developing clear action plans to create climate-resilient infrastructure especially through targeted investments in battery storage, wind, and solar power.
As a representative, Bennett will take on the deregulation and defunding of the environment, ensuring that smart investments are directed into renewable energy projects, pollution clean-up efforts, and support for local farmers burdened with climate change.
Bennett joins the U.S. House after defeating Representative Thomas Kean, who earned an 18% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
“In Congress I will fight to restore common sense tax credits and give investors reliable policy to allow investments in green energy. Every family deserves clean air and clean water, not rollbacks of important safety regulations.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
