Robert F.
Kennedy Jr.

Secretary of Health and Human Services Nominee
Robert F Kennedy Jr.

Claims to fame: Former environmental lawyer, turned conspiracy theorist and failed 2024 Independent presidential candidate.

You should know: Once an environmental activist, RFK Jr. has turned to spreading dangerous disinformation and anti-science rhetoric on the environment and public health issues.

His take on climate: “Climate change is being used to control us through fear.” (X/Twitter)

The fine print: Looking at his recent rhetoric, it’s hard to believe Robert Kennedy Jr. was once an environmental lawyer and founded a non-profit organization to protect clean water. After dropping out of the presidential race, Kennedy endorsed Donald Trump, the most anti-environmental president ever who has repeatedly called climate change a “hoax”.

Kennedy’s own failed campaign was characterized by anti-science viewpoints and the spreading of conspiracy theories, including that offshore wind turbines are killing whales and vaccines cause autism.

Our take: “RFK Jr. is a dangerous conspiracy theorist and science denier whose stated policies would be a disaster for the health and reproductive rights of our communities, our planet, and our future generations. We’ve seen Kennedy time and time again spread misinformation about science, vaccines, and climate change in ways that are harmful for the health and safety of families in the U.S. and across the globe. With this nomination, Trump is again demonstrating that he will prioritize his MAGA allies instead of protecting public health and our environment.” – Matthew Davis, LCV Vice President of Federal Policy and former EPA Health Scientist, Nov. 14
