Sherrod Brown is former senator with decades of experience and a proven legislative record defending Ohio’s air and water while investing in the state’s workers and communities.

After earning his master’s degree in public administration and education from The Ohio State University, Brown dedicated his career to public service, holding office in the Ohio State House of Representatives, as the Ohio secretary of state, and in the U.S. House for seven terms. Brown was then elected as U.S. Senator and served for three terms from 2007 to 2025. As Senator, Brown championed the protection of unionized manufacturing jobs, clean water in the Great Lakes, and federal land conservation programs. Brown was also instrumental in the creation and passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in 2021, which poured much-needed investment into restoration projects for the Great Lakes and surrounding communities.

As a senator, Brown will strengthen Ohio’s clean energy economy by prioritizing investment in offshore wind and will continue fighting for clean, healthy air and water for all. In Brown’s decades of service as a representative and senator, he earned a lifetime score of 93% on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

Brown rejoins the U.S. Senate after defeating former Senator Jon Husted, who earned a spot on LCV Victory Fund’s 2026 Dirty Dozen, with a 2025 score of 3% on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

“Ohioans have a right to clean air, safe drinking water, and a healthy environment. I’ve fought to protect the Great Lakes from pollution and invasive species, invest in clean energy jobs across our state, and preserve our public lands.” – LCVAF Press Release
