Stefany Shaheen is a national healthcare advocate, community leader, and entrepreneur who has championed the right to a clean, healthy environment for all Granite Staters.

Shaheen, who earned her undergraduate degree from Fairfield University and graduate degrees from MIT and Harvard, charted a different life’s path when her daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at eight years old. Shaheen devoted herself to supporting those with chronic disease and developing regenerative medicines and therapies for folks living with long-term illnesses. She helped found a small business to connect patients with clinical support, wrote a best-selling book on her personal experiences, and raised awareness on the importance of access to a nutritious diet and healthy environment. In 2014, Shaheen was elected to serve on the Portsmouth City Council, where she fought for testing of the local water supply for toxic “forever chemicals.” Shaheen was later appointed to the New Hampshire’s Commission on the Status of Women and the Portsmouth Police Commission.

As a representative, Shaheen will continue to protect clean drinking water, lower utility costs, and hold the Trump administration accountable for illegal rollbacks of critical environmental protections.

Shaheen joins the U.S. House to fill the seat of former Representative Chris Pappas, who vacated his seat to run for the U.S. Senate and earned a 97% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

“I am committed to fighting for investments in local, clean, renewable energy production and enhanced energy efficiency measures that will have a meaningful impact on family budgets while mitigating the impacts of climate change.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
