LCV’s 2024 Capital Dinner

LCV and our members came together at our annual dinner on March 20 to celebrate our historic wins for climate justice and the leaders in DC and in our states who made it happen.

It's All on the Line in 2024

The stakes have never been higher. The climate is at a tipping point and our democracy is under assault.

But LCV has been fighting for people and the planet for more than 50 years, and we know how to win.

LCV helped pass the Inflation Reduction Act and its affordable clean energy plan — our country’s largest climate investment in history. We helped pass the Infrastructure Law that will help update public transit systems and build electric vehicle infrastructure. And we’ve won many more victories at the federal, state, and local level to pass democracy protections, preserve public lands, accelerate the clean energy transition and more.

Now we must finish the job and stop the effort to take our country backwards. We can combat climate change, protect the power of the people, and secure a better future for our children. But only if we do it together.

Michigan LCV: John Hunting Winning for the Environment Award

Michigan passed historic legislation to commit to 100% clean energy in 2023, after years of relentless work by the Michigan League of Conservation Voters to combat the climate crisis.

In 2022, Michigan LCV’s electoral work helped secure the state’s first pro-environment, Democratic trifecta in 40 years. But with incredibly thin margins in both houses, passing comprehensive clean energy legislation was never guaranteed.

So Michigan LCV launched the largest off-year program in its history, knocking on over 88,000 doors, making over 1 million phone calls to voters, employing a multi-media approach to get out the message, and bringing hundreds of students, activists and volunteers from every corner of the state together for the largest climate rally in Michigan’s history. And in November, along razor-thin margins, the bill was passed.

Congratulations to Michigan LCV, honored with the John Hunting Winning for the Environment Award at LCV’s 2024 Capital Dinner.
