To date, GiveGreen has raised record-breaking totals to several candidates, including:
This comes after last month’s recording breaking 48-hour online fundraising campaign, #GreenStorm, where LCV Action Fund and NRDC Action Fund PAC along with our allies raised over $537,000.
LCV Action Fund’s federal GiveGreen bundling program, which is supported by the NRDC Action Fund PAC, helps to raise money for pro-environment candidates at the federal level while GiveGreen in the States is a project of LCV Political Engagement Fund and NextGen Climate to help support pro-environment candidates at the state level.
Last year, GiveGreen in the States focused on Virginia candidates, and this year, the program has expanded to include state-level candidates including gubernatorial candidates Roy Cooper (NC) and Jay Inslee (WA) and attorney general candidates Josh Stein (NC) and Josh Shapiro (PA) as well as state legislative candidates in states such as Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada.
“Voters across America want climate action now, and GiveGreen’s historic success this year is proof. The NRDC Action Fund PAC is proud to be part of this record-breaking effort to support environmental champions who will be ready to take bold action on their first day in office,” said Rhea Suh, president of the NRDC Action Fund PAC.
“This is a truly historic effort for LCV Action Fund, the environmental community and our members who are going all out to support pro-environment candidates at the state and federal level. The stakes in this election couldn’t be higher for our planet and people across the county are stepping up to ensure our allies win on Election Day,” said Gene Karpinski, president of LCV Action Fund.
“In the final stretch till Election Day the efforts of our coalition couldn’t be more critical. Our supporters in GiveGreen and GiveGreen in the States have continued to step up and ensure that we help election climate champions From the White House to state houses this November,” said Jenna Narayanan vice president of development of NextGen Climate.
The GiveGreen total of over $7 million includes all contributions raised or contributed in 2015-2016 for federal candidates, as well as contributions raised and contributed through GiveGreen in the States and by state LCV partners to nonfederal candidates.
