House Republicans propose slashing investments that save families money with affordable clean energy in FY27 Energy and Water Appropriations Bill

Jun 24, 2026

Washington, D.C.– Ahead of the vote on House Republicans’ FY27 Energy and Water Appropriations Bill that slashes investments in cost-saving clean energy technologies and energy efficiency while boosting dirty, expensive fossil fuels, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) released the following statement from Legislative Director David Shadburn:

“Families across the country have seen their energy bills go up 16% thanks to Congressional Republicans’ attacks on clean energy and Trump’s reckless war in Iran. This bill is an opportunity to help bring down skyrocketing costs through investments in clean energy and energy efficiency programs, but House Republicans have instead chosen to double down on dirty, expensive fossil fuels that make our communities sicker and our environment less safe. The House must reject this bill and prioritize the needs of our families and the environment over polluter profits.”
