Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will fight to lower energy costs, build a clean energy economy, and strengthen our democracy for all, announced endorsements for Stefany Shaheen in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District and Representative Maggie Goodlander in New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District.
“New Hampshirites have seen their energy bills rise 11% in recent years, fueling the affordability crisis worsened by the disastrous policies of President Trump and Congressional Republicans and their extreme attacks on affordable American-made clean energy,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Sara Chieffo. “We are proud to endorse Stefany Shaheen and Maggie Goodlander for Congress because they will work tirelessly to lower families’ energy costs, speed clean energy solutions, address toxic PFAS chemical contamination, and protect our air, land and water.”
“Stefany Shaheen and Maggie Goodlander have proven records of community involvement and commitment to Granite State environmental values,” said League of Conservation Voters Action Fund New Hampshire State Director Rob Werner. “The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund is proud to endorse these environmental champions for Congress in New Hampshire, and we look forward to working with them as members of Congress to continue to protect clean air and water and expand a clean energy economy that will lower costs for consumers and create jobs for our citizens.”
“Here in New Hampshire, protecting our forests, clean air, clean water, and outdoor way of life is part of who we are — and I’ll always fight to defend them,” said Representative Maggie Goodlander. “In Congress, I’ve voted consistently to crack down on polluters, protect our natural resources, lower energy costs, and expand access to clean, affordable energy for Granite State families. We can grow our economy, protect our environment, and leave our kids a healthier future — and I’m grateful to have LCV Action Fund standing with me in that fight.”
“I’m incredibly honored to have earned the endorsement and support from the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Stefany Shaheen. “I’ve never backed down from a fight for clean water because protecting our natural resources is essential to ensuring the health and well-being of our communities. As Portsmouth City Councilor, I fought to clean up our water after PFAS contamination was discovered and make sure families who were exposed received the blood testing and care they needed. With the Trump Administration gutting health and environmental protections and putting our families at risk, it is more important than ever that we win this race to restore accountability.”
As a member of the Portsmouth City Council, Stefany Shaheen was a champion for clean water, leading efforts to help anyone exposed to water polluted with toxic PFAS chemicals to have access to blood testing, to clean up their water and to do so faster. In Congress, she is committed to fighting for stronger PFAS safeguards and to hold the government and corporate polluters accountable. Shaheen is committed to taking action to address climate change, increase clean local energy production, upgrade the electric grid and reduce energy costs.
In Congress, Representative Maggie Goodlander has worked to lower both carbon pollution and household energy costs by supporting policies that accelerate the deployment of clean energy while making our electric grid more affordable and reliable. She helped launch the Congressional Lowering Utility Bills Caucus and cosponsored the Lowering Utility Bills Act to hold investor-owned utilities accountable and reduce costs for ratepayers. Representative Goodlander has fought to protect LIHEAP and address PFAS contamination by securing provisions requiring the Department of Defense to strengthen cleanup efforts and improve transparency for affected communities.
