Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsement of Christy Smith (CA-27), Dr. Asif Mahmood (CA-40) and Robert Garcia (CA-42) for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from California.
“Communities in California know the devastating consequences of inaction on climate change all too well, which is why we are thrilled to support these outstanding candidates for election to the U.S. House,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Whether as elected officials or health leaders, Robert Garcia, Dr. Asif Mahmood and Christy Smith have all demonstrated their deep commitment to protecting our environment and communities from the devastating impacts of the climate crisis and environmental injustice. We can count on them to continue to protect Californians’ health and fight for climate, justice and jobs.”
“I am honored to have the support of LCV Action Fund in the race to flip CA27,” said Democratic candidate for California’s 27th Congressional District Christy Smith. “Working together, we will continue to push for immediate action on climate policy that prioritizes clean energy, reduced reliance on fossil fuels and plastics, clean water, and a real plan for sustainability and environmental justice.”
“Our families deserve leaders who prioritize the health and safety of every member of our community,” said Democratic candidate for California’s 40th Congressional District Dr. Asif Mahmood. “I am honored to have the support of LCV Action Fund, and look forward to working with them to create a cleaner, safer, and more equitable world.”
“LCV Action Fund has always been at the forefront of climate advocacy and I am honored to have their support,” said Democratic candidate for California’s 42nd Congressional District Mayor Robert Garcia. “I look forward to working closely with them to reduce ship pollution at America’s ports, eliminate our reliance on fossil fuels, and transition to a green workforce and society.”
