WASHINGTON, DC—The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Suzan DelBene for re-election to Congress (WA-1). Congresswoman DelBene is committed to protecting our planet by tackling climate disruption, growing our clean energy economy and preserving our natural resources.
“Congresswoman Suzan DelBene advocates for a cleaner, more sustainable planet by supporting commonsense policies that combat climate change and safeguard our air and water,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “Her efforts to make America a leader in clean energy technology and development while standing up to Big Oil shows her strong commitment to reducing our reliance on dirty fossil fuels.”
“Congresswoman Suzan DelBene recognizes the importance of Washington’s environment to our economy and outdoor heritage, which is why she diligently fights to preserve our natural resources, including our waterways, wilderness and public lands,” said Shannon Murphy, President of Washington Conservation Voters. “She’s dedicated to expanding our clean energy economy, which will protect our planet and create good paying jobs.”
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Delbene. “Washington’s 1st District is home to some of the country’s most beautiful waterways, forests and mountains and contains some of the state’s most fertile agricultural land. It is crucial to the well-being of our economy and quality of life that we do all we can to safeguard these precious natural resources. I look forward to continuing to work towards building a new green economy and finding innovative solutions for addressing climate change for our health and the health of future generations.”
A member of the Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy and Forestry, Congresswoman DelBene works to safeguard our environment for generations to come. She advocates for the conservation of our iconic lands and waterways, and has co-sponsored legislation that protects the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and Middle Fork Snoqualmie and Pratt Rivers. Congresswoman DelBene is also committed to preserving our environment by combating climate change head on, expanding our clean energy industry by increasing renewable energy incentives and voting to end Big Oil subsidies.
Congresswoman DelBene’s voting record has earned her a 96% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard. The non-partisan Scorecard is the nationally accepted yardstick used to rate members of Congress on environmental and clean energy issues. Based on key environmental votes in the House and Senate, it is often used by the media to quickly describe a Member’s record. For more information, visit https://scorecard.lcv.org.
