Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsement of Greg Landsman for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio’s 1st Congressional District.

“Greg Landsman has been a leader on clean energy and equitable sustainability as a Cincinnati City Councilman and we know he will continue to fight to grow Ohio’s clean energy economy and fight for environmental justice in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Vice President of Political Affairs Craig Auster. “We are thrilled to support his campaign for Congress so that Ohio’s 1st district will be represented by someone who will listen to voters and deliver action on climate, jobs, and justice for all families and communities.”

“As a member of Cincinnati City Council, Greg Landsman has fought to ensure Cincinnati is a national leader in environmental justice and renewable energy development. Centering justice in his service, Councilmember Landsman has worked to secure clean air and water for every resident of Cincinnati. In Congress, he’ll be a champion for action on climate change and a clean energy future that will bring jobs to Southwest Ohio,” said Trish Demeter, Interim President of the Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund PAC.

“In Congress, I will work to improve the lives of children and families across our region. That means making sure we all have the opportunity to live in a safe and healthy world with opportunities for good-paying jobs of the future,” said Greg Landsman. “For all those reasons, and more, I am honored to have the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund.”

Greg Landsman is a former public school teacher and nonprofit leader in Cincinnati where he currently serves on Cincinnati City Council. Since 2018 when he began serving on City Council, he has supported efforts to get the City to 100 percent clean energy by 2035 and led the passage of new Balanced Development reforms, which incentivizes not only environmentally sustainable projects, but also those that create and retain local jobs with living wages, include local minority-owned businesses, and build or preserve affordable housing. He also put forward a set of policy proposals centered on equity, livability, and growth for the city, including proposed updates and funding for the City’s environmental justice ordinance.  In contrast, Landsman’s opponent, Rep. Steve Chabot, has received a 12% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
