Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Jahana Hayes for Congress in Connecticut’s 5th District.

“LCV Action Fund is thrilled to endorse Jahana Hayes for Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “As an educator, she knows that there is nothing more important than investing in our future. She is committed to fighting for clean air, clean water, and clean energy jobs so that healthy communities can continue to thrive in Connecticut for generations to come.”

“Connecticut’s 5th District is home to stunning natural beauty and abundant natural resources. It’s also home to significant environmental challenges” said Jahana Hayes. “I’m thrilled to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, and am ready to build on its critical work with policies that will preserve and improve our environment.”

Jahana Hayes grew up in Waterbury, Connecticut. She started at community college and then earned a four year degree at Southern Connecticut State University and a Master’s and advanced degrees from the University of Saint Joseph and University of Bridgeport. Hayes then became a teacher at John F. Kennedy High School, and in 2016 won the National Teacher of the Year Award. In Congress, she will prioritize addressing the climate crisis and ensuring that every family in Connecticut has clean air to breathe and clean water to drink.
