WASHINGTON, DC—The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced its endorsement of John Walsh for U.S. Senate. Walsh supports commonsense solutions that will protect our environment for generations to come while growing America’s clean energy economy. 

“John Walsh is committed to protecting Montana’s land and wildlife and growing the clean energy economy,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “He sees firsthand the impacts that climate disruption is having on Montanans and the threat it poses to our national security.”

“John Walsh is committed to preserving Montana’s public lands, natural resources and outdoor heritage, and he is always putting Montana first,” said Montana Conservation Voters board chair Juanita Verno. “He advocates for Montana made initiatives that will grow our clean energy industry, support agriculture, and protect our fish and wildlife.”

“We need to protect our clean air, clean water and breathtaking public lands – not only for the outdoor economies that Montanans rely on, but also for our children and grandchildren,” Walsh said. “I grew up next door to the Berkeley Pit, one of America’s largest Superfund sites, and know what’s at stake if we fail to do what’s right. I’m proud to have the support of local and national groups committed to protecting our outdoor heritage and making sure my granddaughter and future generations inherit an even better Montana than we’ve known.”

While in the Montana National guard, Walsh experienced firsthand the impacts that climate-fueled extreme weather is having on the state as he led efforts to suppress wildfires ravaging Montana. He understands that climate disruption is threatening our national security, agriculture industry, and fish and wildlife habitats, and we must create solutions that tackle this challenge head on and reduce our reliance on foreign oil.

Walsh advocates for commonsense solutions that will protect our environment while moving America towards a clean energy future. He supports policies that encourage renewable energy development including on our public lands and through extending the Production Tax Credit, which is important to the continued growth of wind energy.  He also works to preserve Montana’s pristine landscape and outdoor heritage, so that residents can enjoy fishing, hunting and hiking for generations to come.
