WASHINGTON, DC—The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Pam Byrnes for Congress (MI-7). Byrnes supports expanding our clean energy economy and protecting the Great Lakes.
“Pam Byrnes is committed to finding bipartisan solutions that safeguard our environment and public health for future generations,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “She is dedicated to investing in renewable energy industries that will create good paying jobs throughout the country, and will also work to make Michigan a leader in clean energy production.”
“Pam Byrnes has been a strong advocate for the people of Michigan, and will continue this leadership in Congress,” said Lisa Wozniak, Executive Director for the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. “She is committed to the protection and restoration of the Great Lakes, and will work hard to make our planet cleaner and more sustainable.”
“Michigan is fortunate to have an abundance of natural resources and world-class research institutions which is a winning combination for a clean environment and good, green job creation,” said Byrnes. “I’m proud to have the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and I look forward to working with them to promote a clean energy economy that works for Michigan’s middle class families.”
Byrnes is committed to protecting and restoring our environment and the Great Lakes, which she recognizes are vital to Michigan’s heritage and should be carefully looked after for generations to come. As a part of protecting the natural landscape, she opposes any efforts by Big Oil to drill in the Great Lakes and will fight to end Big Oil subsidies. Building upon her work in the state legislature to increase the state’s renewable energy goals, Byrnes will work hard to expand America’s clean energy industries, including wind and solar, in order to create jobs right here at home while reducing our reliance on dirty fossil fuels.
Byrnes has also worked to safeguard public health by advocating to ban the practice of dumping toxic mercury into landfills. In the Michigan state legislature, she led the charge to protect our Great Lakes, wildlife, and food supply by pushing for the removal of mercury from widely used products. She also signed on to the Healthy Michigan Healthy Kids platform, solidifying her commitment to safeguarding our children from exposure to harmful toxins.
Pam Byrnes will be featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates.
