Sep 28, 2023

Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced their endorsement of U.S. Representative Raúl Grijalva, Ranking Democrat on the House Committee on Natural Resources, for re-election in Arizona’s 7 Congressional District.

“Representative Raúl Grijalva is a tremendous leader for climate action, environmental justice, conservation and a strong democracy,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “From helping pass the Inflation Reduction Act, the largest-ever investment in clean energy jobs and environmental justice, to his tireless efforts to protect the Grand Canyon, to introducing the most comprehensive environmental justice legislation in history, Representative Grijalva is an incredible champion for our communities and our environment, and LCV Action Fund is thrilled to endorse him for re-election to Congress.”

“Arizonans are fortunate to have U.S. Representative Raúl Grijalva, a climate champion, fighting for us every day in Congress,” said Chispa Arizona Executive Director Vianey Olivarria. “Representative Grijalva understands that the climate crisis is already having devastating impacts on our state, especially in low-wealth, Latinx and other communities of color across Arizona and the country. We applaud his longtime leadership and look forward to continue working with him for clean air, water and a safe climate for all.”

“Enacting sound environmental policies is a moral obligation we owe to future generations and no organization has more committed to addressing this head-on than LCV. I’m proud to have their endorsement,” said Representative Raúl Grijalva. “As the top Democrat on the House Natural Resources Committee, LCV has stood with me in support of the many ambitious proposals and creative solutions I have been able to advance. From rolling out the innovative Environmental Justice for All Act to our collective effort to institute broader protections for the Grand Canyon region, culminating with President Biden’s designation of the Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument, I’m glad to be able to help lead our shared fight in Washington.”
