Washington D.C. – Today the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will fight to lower energy costs, build a clean energy economy, and strengthen our democracy for all, announced the endorsement of Sherrod Brown for election to the U.S. Senate representing Ohio.
“It is critical to have strong clean energy champions like Sherrod Brown in the Senate to protect people and the planet while Trump’s government shutdown and attacks on cheap, fast clean energy is continuing to raise utility costs for families across the country,” said LCV Action Fund Vice President of Political Affairs Craig Auster. “Sherrod Brown has the experience and proven leadership Ohioans can count on — he will never stop fighting for a clean energy future that helps workers and working families, rebuilds the middle class and brings down costs for everyone.”
“Ohioans have a right to clean air, safe drinking water, and a healthy environment. I’ve fought to protect the Great Lakes from pollution and invasive species, invest in clean energy jobs across our state, and preserve our public lands. When Norfolk Southern’s negligence contaminated East Palestine, I was there from day one holding them accountable and securing federal resources,” said Sherrod Brown. “I’m also proud of my work to help eliminate childhood exposure to lead paint and lead pipes, which helps address the legacy of environmental pollution facing too many Ohio communities and gives our children the opportunity to grow, flourish, and reach their full potential. I’m grateful for LCV Action Fund’s endorsement, and I’ll keep fighting to protect our environment as Ohio’s next U.S. Senator.”
About Sherrod Brown
Sherrod Brown formerly served Ohio in the U.S. Senate for three terms and earned a 93% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard. Prior to the Senate, Brown served as Ohio Secretary of State, in the U.S. House, and in the state House. Senator Brown long played a key leadership role on comprehensive clean energy and climate change legislation that protects manufacturing jobs and the Great Lakes. In 2023, he helped write and pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) which helped fund $30 million dollars for restoration projects in communities around the Great Lakes. In the 2018 Farm Bill, Brown secured provisions from his Give Our Resources the Opportunity to Work (GROW) Act, which will better utilize existing federal conservation programs to protect waterways and expand access to quality farmland. In the Senate, Sherrod Brown will advocate for creating good-paying, family-sustaining union clean energy jobs in Ohio and bring down costs for families across the state.
