Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today its endorsement of Tricia Zunker to represent Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“We are proud to endorse Tricia Zunker in her campaign for Congress because of her deep commitment to protecting the environment for future generations,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “As an experienced elected official, we know that she will always fight for our public lands, clean air, and clean water and take action to address the climate crisis.”
“Tricia Zunker is committed to ensuring clean, safe water for Wisconsinites,” said Wisconsin Conservation Voters Executive Director Kerry Schumann. “She knows the important role our natural heritage plays here in Wisconsin and is committed to growing our sustainable energy economy.”
“We have an obligation and a duty to protect the environment for generations to come,” said Tricia Zunker. “I’m honored to have the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund behind my campaign to ensure we have clean air, clean water, and that our beautiful lands stay protected. I look forward to working to protect the environment from Congress.”
Tricia Zunker was born and raised near Wausau, Wisconsin, and is a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation. Her parents were union members and her grandfather farmed in rural Marathon County. The first member of her family to graduate from college, she received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and her law degree from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law. She has served as an Associate Justice to the Ho-Chunk Nation Supreme Court and in 2018 she was elected as the president of the Wausau School Board after deciding to run to address children’s food insecurity. Zunker is committed to protecting Northwest Wisconsin’s environment and addressing climate change. She announced her campaign at the Dells of the Eau Claire River – public lands she and her family would visit when she was a child – because of the importance of environmental issues to her campaign. If elected, she will be the first Native American to represent Wisconsin in Congress.
About LCV Action Fund
The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, the connected federal political action committee (PAC) of the League of Conservation Voters, works to elect leaders who stand up for a clean, healthy environment and to defeat anti-environmental candidates who oppose climate action. Since the 1990 election cycle, LCVAF has helped elect and re-elect 90 U.S. Senators and 450 members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
