Washington, D.C.– Today, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) and House Majority Forward launched a $700,000 digital ad program calling out House Republicans for supporting the Republican budget, aka the Big Ugly Bill, which will raise costs for families and communities across the board while cutting taxes for the ultra wealthy. The ads will run in select districts during August recess.

The ads aim to hold key House Republicans accountable by outlining how their support of the most anti- environmental bill of all time will increase costs from utility bills to healthcare and eliminate clean energy. The ads will run on digital platforms in, AZ-06, CA-22, CA-40, CO-08 IA-01, MI-07, NV-02, NY-17, OH-15, PA-10, and WI-03.

“Republicans in Congress need to stop increasing our costs,” said Sara Chieffo, Vice President of Government Affairs at the League of Conservation Voters. “At a time of rising energy demand and dangerous and deadly climate impacts, we need clean energy – the most affordable and fastest to deploy – more than ever. These Republicans broke their promise to constituents to lower costs and voted for a budget that will increase costs across the board– and their constituents deserve to know who is to blame for increases in their bills.”

“It’s a fact, House Republicans handed billionaires a tax break and stuck their own constituents with the bill — all while cutting their Medicaid and raising their costs,” said House Majority Forward President Mike Smith. “Families are paying more for electricity, health care, and everyday basics, and all House Republicans have to show for it is another favor to the elite.”

This ad program comes following Republicans passing the Big Ugly Bill, the most anti-environmental bill of all time. By supporting this billionaire tax scam, Congressional Republicans have voted to increase utility bills by as much as $400 a year, eliminate hundreds of thousands of family-sustaining clean energy jobs that are disproportionately available to their own constituents, poison our air and water, and open up millions of acres of public lands to drilling, logging, and mining.
