Washington D.C. — The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) and Climate Power today expanded their ad campaign holding House Republicans accountable for voting for their extreme Default on America Act and risking a debt default crisis with five new in-district ads and a national digital ad. With an additional $350,000 investment, the latest wave builds on the previously released seven-figure national and district-specific campaign announced two weeks ago. The Republican representatives receiving new ads include:
The first round of ads included Molinaro and Mace, along with Representatives Mark Amodei (NV-02), Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), and Brandon Williams (NY-22).
“House Republicans are hoping their constituents won’t notice the incredibly irresponsible risks they are taking with their own districts’ future and the entire country’s economy–all to score points for Big Oil and MAGA extremists,” said Pete Maysmith, Senior Vice President for Campaigns at the League of Conservation Voters. “We aren’t going to stop making sure these communities hear about the real costs in terms of jobs and critical services their families could feel if Republicans in Congress, including their own representative, get their way.”
“With their Default on America Act, House Republicans are proving yet again that they’d rather serve the interests of Big Oil, than the health and wellbeing of their constituents,” said Lori Lodes, Executive Director of Climate Power. “Their communities deserve to know that their representative voted to kill good-paying clean energy jobs in their districts to give more tax breaks to Big Oil.”
Communities in red districts and states stand to lose the most if the Default on America Act becomes law. According to Climate Power’s Clean Energy Boom in Republican Districts Report, more than half of all clean energy projects that have moved forward since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act are represented by House Republicans. Repealing the Inflation Reduction Act will kill over 77,000 jobs in House Republican controlled districts.
