Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Senator Chris Van Hollen, Representatives David Trone (MD-06) and Jamie Raskin (MD-08) on their wins in Maryland.
“Maryland is a state that has continued to set the tone for climate action,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “Maryland stood up for champions like Senator Van Hollen and Representatives Trone and Raskin because they stood up for Marylanders’ health and environment.”
Environmental donors contributed $140,000 to Maryland candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a midterm record $26.9 million for the 2022 cycle.
LCV’s affiliate Maryland LCV also congratulated Governor-elect Wes Moore on his victory, defeating 2022 Dirty Dozen in the States member Dan Cox. The Moore campaign laid out an ambitious 100-day environmental plan for the state.
These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in Maryland, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
