Washington, D.C.– The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Senator Chris Murphy and Representative Jahana Hayes (CT-05) on their wins in Connecticut. We look forward to working together in the 119th Congress and beyond to continue making progress on addressing the climate crisis and protecting our democracy.

“Tonight, voters across Connecticut reaffirmed their commitment to addressing the climate crisis head-on by reelecting climate champions Senator Chris Murphy and Representative Jahana Hayes,” said LCV President Gene Karpinksi. “LCV congratulates both of these dedicated advocates, who have fought tirelessly for a safe and healthy environment for the people of Connecticut. We can’t wait to continue to work alongside Senator Murphy and Representative Hayes to build on the successes of their previous terms and to advance a cleaner, safer energy future for Connecticut and the country.”

LCV Victory Fund invested in a GOTV Mobilization program in partnership with Priorities USA Action to turnout young voters and voters of color. This included a $100,000 by LCV Victory Fund in Connecticut’s District 5 to support Jahana Hayes. 

GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates including in Connecticut — raised a record $58.5 million for the 2024 cycle.

These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in Connecticut, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
