Washington, D.C.– The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Senator-elect Lisa Blunt Rochester and Representative-elect Sarah McBride (DE-AL) on their historic wins in Delaware. We look forward to working together in the 119th Congress and beyond to continue making progress on addressing the climate crisis and protecting our democracy.
“Tonight, Delawareans demonstrated their support for climate action,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “They are already feeling the effects of rising sea levels, and know that climate initiatives can help ensure access to clean air and water and create jobs for families across the states. They also made history by electing Lisa Blunt Rochester as the first Black person and first woman to represent Delaware in the U.S. Senate and by electing Sarah McBride, the first openly transgender member of Congress. We are looking forward to working alongside these climate champions to build a clean energy economy.”
These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in Delaware, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
