LCV Congratulates Senator-elect Roy Cooper and Other Endorsed North Carolina Candidates

Nov 3, 2026

Washington, D.C. — The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Senator-elect Roy Cooper and Representatives Deborah Ross (NC-02), Valerie Foushee (NC-04), Alma Adams (NC-12), and Representative-elect Jamie Ager (NC-11) on their wins.

“North Carolinians voted to support climate champions who are committed to fighting against rising energy costs and Trump’s reckless energy policies,” said LCV President Pete Maysmith. “The urgency to address the climate crisis has never been greater as people across North Carolina continue to see the devastating and lasting impacts of fossil-fueled extreme weather and pollution on communities. We can’t wait to get to work with these climate champions on real clean energy solutions and to ensure our communities are more resilient against climate change and threats to our democracy.”

LCV Victory Fund invested $500,000 to elect Roy Cooper and defeat Dirty Dozen member Michael Whatley. The spending included an ad campaign in partnership with EDF Action Votes and NRDC Action Votes focused on Michael Whatley’s long career as a lobbyist for Big Oil and Duke Energy, who backed his campaign for Senate as Duke Energy requested rate hikes on North Carolina families (Their Man). LCV Victory Fund also invested nearly $780,000 to elect Jamie Ager. Spending in this race included digital ads focused on Balkcom’s ties to Duke Energy and votes to cut costs for Duke Energy, while they drive up rates for North Carolinians.

LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program turned out LCV members to volunteer for the Roy Cooper, Alma Adams, and Deborah Ross campaigns as part of a nationwide field program to help elect environmental champions that drove over 32,500 volunteer shifts that turned out voters through 1,200,000 door knocks, phone calls, and letters.

Environmental donors contributed $791,000 to North Carolina candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised $28.8 million for the 2026 cycle.

These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in North Carolina, reaffirming that addressing the climate crisis and affordable clean energy solutions are winning issues for voters.
