LCV Congratulates Senator-elect Sherrod Brown and Other Endorsed Ohio Candidates

Nov 6, 2026

Washington, D.C. — The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Senator-elect Sherrod Brown, Representatives Greg Landsman (OH-01), Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), and Emilia Sykes (OH-13), and Representatives-elect Brian Poindexter (OH-07) and Kristina Knickerbocker (OH-10) on their wins in Ohio.

“Ohioans chose leaders who will fight to lower energy costs, create good-paying clean energy jobs, and protect the air and water their communities depend on,” said LCV President Pete Maysmith. “This incredible slate of climate champions understand that Ohio families should come before Big Polluters and corporate special interests. We congratulate them on their victories and look forward to working together to protect the Great Lakes, build a clean energy economy that works for everyone, and ensure a healthier and more affordable future for communities across Ohio.”

LCV Victory Fund invested over $10 million to elect Sherrod Brown and defeat Dirty Dozen member Jon Husted. Opposition to data center development and concerns around the environmental impacts rapidly surged from 2025 to 2026, presenting a clear opportunity for LCV Victory Fund to connect with voters on an issue that linked climate impacts, rising utility costs, and corruption. Programming in this Senate race included digital ads focused on Husted’s support for data centers, including his campaign being boosted by data center interests and later voting for $80 billion in tax breaks for data center developers (Face).

In addition to data centers, LCV Victory Fund connected with voters on rising utility costs and Husted’s ties to the FirstEnergy scandal. Spending included an 8-piece mail program and a digital ad campaign in partnership with EDF Action Votes, focused on Husted’s role in driving up utility bills for Ohioans as a result of the taxpayer funded bailout of FirstEnergy that he negotiated (Husted Hike).

LCV Victory Fund also joined forces with the United Steelworkers Union (USW Works) through their joint super PAC, the New American Jobs Fund, and the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy PAC to knock on over 1.65 million doors between September and Election Day in Ohio, supporting Sherrod Brown, Greg Landsman, Marcy Kaptur, and Emilia Sykes.

LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program also turned out LCV members to volunteer for the Sherrod Brown, Brian Poindexter, Marcy Kaptur, and Emilia Sykes campaigns as part of a nationwide field program to help elect environmental champions that drove over 32,500 volunteer shifts that turned out voters through 1,200,000 door knocks, phone calls, and letters.

Environmental donors contributed $1,360,000 to Ohio candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised $28.8 million for the 2026 cycle.

These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in Ohio, reaffirming that addressing the climate crisis and affordable clean energy solutions are winning issues for voters.
