WASHINGTON, DC – League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski released this statement on the release of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) final standards making gasoline cleaner and curbing harmful tailpipe emissions from passenger vehicles, which is supported by a cross-section of groups from across the health and environmental communities:

“At a time when more than 1 in 3 Americans are living in areas with poor air quality, these commonsense standards will help clean our air and improve public health by preventing asthma attacks and even premature deaths. That’s why this approach has the strong support of health experts and the auto industry alike. These standards are a win for public health and a win for our economy.”
