Washington, D.C. – Following the House Appropriations Committee vote on the FY2019 Interior and Environment funding bill, the League of Conservation Voters released the following statement from Deputy Legislative Director Alex Taurel:
“Congress should be strengthening our investments in initiatives that protect public health and boost our outdoor economy. But instead, Republican leaders of the House Appropriations Committee chose to advance a funding bill that slashes key programs and includes a slew of anti-environmental poison pill riders.
“This bill contains deep cuts to clean air, clean water, and endangered species protections – as well as the widely popular Land and Water Conservation Fund, which supports community parks across the country. This is yet another unacceptable example of Congress selling out our communities in favor of profits for corporate polluters, and we urge every member of Congress to reject it.”
