LCV Statement on BLM Public Lands Rule

Apr 18, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  In response to today’s announcement from the Biden-Harris administration on the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Conservation and Landscape Health Rule, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) released the following statement from Conservation Program Director America Fitzpatrick:

“The Biden-Harris administration is continuing to deliver on strong protections for our public lands and water, cultural resources, wildlife, and climate for our communities and future generations. This rule better balances conservation on our public lands, which is crucial to combat the climate crisis at the scale science requires and reduce climate-related disasters including droughts, wildfires, and devastating changes to ecosystems and watersheds. We applaud the Biden-Harris administration for making conservation a priority and ensuring public lands are resilient and a part of the climate solution.”

These announcements build on major progress the Biden-Harris administration announced last week to cut hazardous air pollutants, ban PFAS from our water, level the playing field for renewable energy projects on public lands, and strengthen protections against Big Polluters on public lands.
