Washington, D.C.– In response to the Department of Energy announcing the cancellation of three proposed national interest electric transmission corridors, the League of Conservation Voters released the following statement from Vice President of Federal Policy, Matthew Davis:
“The Trump administration is trying to drive up electricity costs yet again. Building long-distance transmission lines is one of the best ways to lower costs and secure and upgrade our grid — and strengthening our grid is wildly popular, too. Pulling the plug on these long-planned transmission corridors will pull the rug out from under billions of dollars in investments and tens of thousands of jobs for hardworking families. We will continue to fight back against actions like this that hurt consumers and boost the profits of fossil fuel CEOs.”
