Washington, D.C. – In response to tonight’s CBS Republican debate, the last before the South Carolina primary, LCV National Press Secretary Seth Stein issued the following statement:
“Tonight, we did not have an opportunity to hear from the candidates about their plans to take action on climate change. With the Supreme Court’s decision earlier this week to issue a temporary pause on the Clean Power Plan, the question of the candidates’ plans on climate action is significant. Unfortunately, over the course of this campaign, we have heard various shades of climate denialism from the Republican frontrunners, presenting a stark contrast with the Democratic candidates’ substantive conversation on climate change. The stakes could not be higher, and Hillary has demonstrated that she has the passion, record, and experience to build on President Obama’s legacy.”
