Washington, D.C. — In response to President Biden’s statement regarding Senate action on the Build Back Better Act, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) released the following statement from LCV Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld:
“As the President and Leader Schumer have made clear time and again, failure to pass the Build Back Better Act is not an option. The Senate can and must pass the Build Back Better Act quickly. This overwhelmingly popular bill will save people money on their energy bills and other monthly expenses, create good-paying union jobs, and build a healthier, more equitable clean energy future for all of our communities. We remain confident that the Senate will act in the next few weeks to pass the strongest legislation in U.S. history to combat the climate crisis. Climate catastrophes are devastating our communities right now and further delay is unacceptable. Our climate and our democracy are inextricably linked, and we also urge the Senate to do what it takes to swiftly pass meaningful voting rights legislation.”
