Washington, D.C — In response to today’s announcement from House Republicans to introduce the Make Elections Great Again (MEGA) Act, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) issued the following statement from Democracy Program Director Justin Kwasa:
“Extreme MAGA Republicans are continuing to do everything they can to make it harder for people to vote in free and fair elections. The clearly partisan MEGA Act would be the biggest attack on the right to vote in our country’s history, far beyond the anti-voter SAVE Act proposed last year. The MEGA Act would imperil the fundamental rights of millions of voters across the country, roll back mail voting, cause legitimate voters’ ballots to be thrown out, and make voter registration harder for over a hundred million eligible voters. Every eligible voter, no matter their race, income, ability, or zip code, must be able to access their freedom to choose their own leaders. Congress must reject this and all Republican attempts to prevent free and fair elections.”
