Washington, D.C. – League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement on the passing of the President of the AFL-CIO, Richard Trumka:

“Richard Trumka’s passing is a monumental loss. He was a class act who cared deeply about workers and the planet and was always willing to engage with environmental advocates even when policy goals were not completely aligned. We will carry on Trumka’s legacy in our fight for transformational progress to combat the climate crisis and create high-quality, union jobs that help rebuild the middle class. Our thoughts are with his wife Barbara and the entire Trumka family.”
