WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight, the Democratic candidates for president met for their third debate, hosted by ABC. In response, LCV National Press Secretary Seth Stein issued the following statement:
“We are deeply disappointed that the moderators tonight ignored a huge opportunity to ask the candidates their plans to address climate change. The American people are more likely to support a candidate who will take action on climate change, the Pentagon has repeatedly called it a national security threat, and business leaders believe clean energy solutions will grow the economy. This year President Obama built tremendous momentum in the fight against climate change by finalizing the Clean Power Plan and a historic agreement at the international climate summit in Paris. Hillary Clinton is the candidate who can carry on and build upon that legacy, while the entire GOP field has proven they are sorely lacking the leadership to address the critical issue of climate change.”
