Washington, D.C.– Today, LCV Victory Fund announced a new ad program that includes Virginia’s First District highlighting Republican Congressman Rob Wittman’s votes to cut clean energy that raised rates across Virginia. The ads will be targeted to reach “Energy Bill Voters,” a key voting bloc hit particularly hard by energy price increases that LCV Victory Fund seeks to mobilize heading toward this November’s critical midterm election. This is the earliest LCV Victory Fund has ever invested in House races, highlighting the egregious votes Wittman has taken and the impact it has had on voters in his district. The ads will launch on TV, digital, and streaming platforms.

Virginians have felt the impact of these costs and are making their voices heard:
“Rob Wittman’s rubber stamp for this administration’s energy policies and his embrace of data center talking points have only added to the strain on our electrical grid and resources. While his silence and his inaction hurt the working families in his district. Our electrical bills are soaring exactly because of Rob Wittman’s lack of backbone and inability to do right by working families.”

Since President Trump took office, energy costs have risen 18% nationwide and have continued to get worse for Virginians. Recent polling shows that 35% of all voters, and 51% of undecided voters placed the cost of utilities, like electricity and heating “as their most important issue in deciding who to vote for in Congressional elections.”
At the same time, the number of voters blaming high energy costs on Trump and Congressional Republicans’ cancellation of clean energy projects has already risen 5% in the first half of 2026 alone.
Despite the popularity of both American clean energy resources and projects, the Trump Administration and Republicans like Rep. Wittman have continued to roll back clean energy projects that help lower costs, grow good paying American jobs, and protect the health and safety of our communities. The pain of these choices is being felt nationwide and LCV Victory Fund is ensuring that voters know exactly who is responsible. In Virginia, with the Trump Administration and Congressman Wittman in office, Virginians have paid $170 more for electricity year-over-year.
You see what I’m holding here? This is my utility bill.
$350, $350!
Last year, it was 160.
That’s on top of groceries and everything else.
I hope you are hearing me, Congressman Rob Wittman.
Your votes to cut our clean energy supply made our utility rates go up.
Why?
So you can give billionaires another tax cut. I’ve got 4 kids.
Congressman Wittman, your votes are crushing us.
