Washington D.C.- In anticipation of the release of the text for the Surface Transportation Authorization bill in the House, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) released the following statement from Government Affairs Advocate for Climate & Clean Energy Darien Davis:
“Gas prices are already nearing $5 per gallon and vehicle efficiency standards have been gutted thanks to the reckless actions of the Trump administration and extreme Republicans in Congress. Investments in electric vehicles, walkable communities, and convenient transit could help bring down skyrocketing transportation costs and make our communities healthier, but this proposed surface transportation reauthorization does not address rising costs. Instead, it creates more obstacles for advancing affordable and healthy transportation options and community input. Congress must take advantage of this opportunity to directly address skyrocketing transportation costs and deadly pollution. We will continue to fight for a cleaner, more affordable transportation system that works for everyone, not just Big Oil CEOs.”
