Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Andy Kim for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd District.

“Andy Kim will be a critical ally in Congress as New Jersey leads the nation in building our clean energy economy,” said New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Ed Potosnak. “He will advocate for smart solutions to protect the Jersey shore from rising seas and fight back against threats to bring offshore drilling to our coast.”

“As a former national security official, I know climate change is not just an important environmental issue, but also an important national security issue,” said Andy Kim. “Congress needs to find bipartisan solutions to this pressing issue. Clean energy production isn’t just about our environment, it’s also about employing South Jersey and the Jersey shore with good, high-paying jobs. In Congress, I will work to bring those jobs here so we can work on these urgent environmental issues together.”

Andy Kim was born and raised in South Jersey. He served as a strategic adviser for General David Petraeus and General John Allan in Afghanistan. Most recently he advised President Obama on ISIS and served for two years as the Director for Iraq in President Obama’s National Security Council. Kim is committed to addressing climate change as a national security crisis and will work in Congress to invest in renewable energy, stop offshore drilling, and support better storm resilience.
