Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today its endorsement of Senator Chris Coons for re-election to the U.S. Senate from Delaware.

“Senator Chris Coons understands the urgency and interconnectedness of the climate crisis, from helping start the bipartisan Senate Climate Solutions Caucus to his recent roundtable he hosted with national business leaders to discuss climate change in light of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “LCV Action Fund is proud to support Senator Coons because of his long track record working with colleagues to take action and implement bipartisan climate solutions.”

“The League of Conservation Voters tirelessly advocates for clean air, clean water, and bold action to take on climate change,” said Senator Chris Coons. “I share their commitment to preserving our natural resources, fighting climate change, and tackling environmental justice, and I am proud to have earned the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund’s endorsement.”

Chris Coons was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010. In March 2017, the Bipartisan Policy Center recognized Senator Coons for his commitment to bipartisanship and awarded him its Legislative Action Award. In October 2019, Senator Coons joined with Republican Senator Mike Braun of Indiana, founding the Senate’s first-ever bipartisan climate caucus, the Senate Climate Solutions Caucus. He also sponsored the Financing Our Energy Future Act, which would help level the playing field for clean and renewable energy projects and was an original co-sponsor of the Clean Economy Act to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas pollution by no later than 2050. Earlier this month, Senator Coons hosted a virtual roundtable discussion with national business leaders on ways to address our changing climate in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Senator Coons earned a 100% score on the League of Conservation Voters’ National Environmental Scorecard in 2019.
