Washington, D.C. – As we await the final votes in some more key races to be called across the country, LCV Action Fund congratulates our endorsed candidates on their victories in this election. LCV Action Fund is proud to have helped elect at least 13 new members of Congress who we know will be leaders for climate action and environmental justice.

In the 2019-2020 election cycle, LCV Action Fund endorsed candidates in 178 federal races across the nation. Of the candidates endorsed, 40% are people of color and 52% are women — making this year’s endorsements most diverse to date and more reflective of our country’s racial and gender diversity. To date, at least 110 LCV Action Fund-endorsed candidates have won their elections and there are more races yet to be called.

LCV Action Fund congratulates all of our winning endorsees and the following incoming newly-elected class of environmental champions, including three new Senators-elect and 10 new Representatives-elect:

U.S. Senate:
Capt. Mark Kelly (Arizona) – PRO-ENVIRONMENT FLIP
Gov. John Hickenlooper (Colorado) – PRO-ENVIRONMENT FLIP
Rep. Ben Ray Luján (New Mexico)

U.S. House:
Nikema Williams (Georgia-05)
Carolyn Bourdeaux (Georgia-07) – PRO-ENVIRONMENT FLIP
Kai Kahele (Hawaii-02)
Marie Newman (Illinois-03)
Teresa Leger Fernandez (New Mexico-03)
Ritchie Torres (New York-15)
Jamaal Bowman (New York-16)
Mondaire Jones (New York-17)
Deborah Ross (North Carolina-02) – PRO-ENVIRONMENT FLIP
Kathy Manning (North Carolina-06) – PRO-ENVIRONMENT FLIP

“LCV Action Fund is proud to have helped elect more pro-environment members to the U.S. Senate and House, and we congratulate the candidates who ran and won on climate solutions, clean energy, and environmental justice,” said Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are confident they will stand up for our communities, reverse the damage done by the Trump administration and get to work right away with President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on climate action that creates a cleaner, more equitable and just future.”

As of today, there are still 6 races with potential new Members on the ballot that are too close to call, including the two Senate runoff races in Georgia.
